Ireland Trip

Most of you probably know that my dad took my family on a week long trip to Ireland this month. The next few posts will be devoted to details of the most amazing adventure of my life!

First of all, a large bunch of us left together from our local airport, and were planning to meet the parents and two of our siblings in the Charlotte airport during our layover. We would then fly on to Dublin together. This, unfortunately, did not happen. Their flight was delayed, and while we all made it to Dublin that night, the four of them had to wait for the next day. This made us all sad, but they had a mini-vacation in Chicago, as that was where they were sent to await their flight.

We arrived on Sunday morning at about 7 AM Dublin time. After getting through customs and waiting for our bags, we met a bus driver who was there to pick us up. It was very fun to see someone holding a sign with out last name at the airport :)

The drive out to Dalkey would normally have taken an hour or more, but with it being Sunday morning, and our bus driver's apparent lack of fear, we made it in much less time. We rested a little in the morning, and had a good look around our historic lodge and its surrounding grounds. Then the jet lag hit. Everyone was so tired, and we agreed to have an early dinner/late lunch at 4 O'Clock. The trouble was filling the time before that. We wandered around Dalkey, but it is a small village and it took little time to discover everything. We walked quite a while until we hit the shore and spent some time watching the birds and seals. Still exhausted, we finally made it to dinner. Rachel and I were probably the worst off, or at least showing it the worst. We made quick work of our dinner and headed back to the Lodge. I don't think any of us made it much past 7:00 before we hit the sack. I barely remember that day...except that there was still light streaming through the windows when I fell asleep.

Turns out, this was a bad idea, because I woke up around 3 AM the next morning.

For Monday's adventures, stay tuned!

Silly Things

Today began with Levi laughing at me for things I said in the night. I knew I used to talk in my sleep, but it's been awhile...or my college room mates never said anything about it. I think the content of my speech stemmed from two things: the fact that my mom came to visit us at our place (which was wonderful) and that I have been reading Harry Potter almost nonstop.
Anyway, the other night I (apparently) turned over, opened my eyes, and said, "Nobody has to pay for mom's because it's just magic." Levi got such a kick out of it that he wrote it on our door, on the white board. He says he has also experienced this with my little brother, Joel, who warned him to stay off the train tracks. This has led him to believe that sleep talking is genetic. :) I should ask my other siblings if they have this problem
